Paul Bunyan State Trail

Description

Quoted from Trail website:

The Paul Bunyan Trail is the longest bike trail in Minnesota at 112 miles; it connects the Heartland Trail, the Blue Ox Trail and the Cuyuna State Trail. The portion of the trail from Guthrie south through Laporte toward Walker is now paved. With the paving of this 19-mile segment completed in 2010, the Paul Bunyan Trail now yields a continuously paved trail from Brainerd, MN to Lake Bemidji State Park in Bemidji, Minnesota - a total of 112 paved miles!

Another future paving project in Brainerd and Baxter will provide paved trail access South to the Crow Wing State Park. The Bemidji area paving plans include the addition of a bridge over Bemidji Avenue, which is being constructed in the spring and summer of 2012; and a one-half mile segment along Clausen Avenue. Upon completion, the trail will be approximately 120 miles long!

The terrain of the Paul Bunyan Trail ranges from flat and open to hilly and scenic. Along the 112 miles of trail there are many areas to stop and rest and enjoy the beauty of nature in northern Minnesota. Hey, bring along your swimming suit and take a dip in any of the numerous lakes the trail parallels. If you like to 'rough' it there are many campsites to pitch a tent, but if you prefer to have a few more human comforts, visit the resorts and hotels along the Paul Bunyan Trail.
